Well-seasoned chicken wings/drumettes are cooked to crispy goodness in the oven and then tossed in a delicious, spicy, buttery buffalo sauce with a dash of sweetness. Then the wings are served with a side of chilled and refreshing Ranch dipping sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds chicken wings or drumettes
  • 1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
  • Kosher salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/3 cup hot sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

For the Ranch dipping sauce:

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
  • 1/3 cup chopped fresh chives
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Kosher salt, to taste

Honey Buffalo Chicken Wings with Homemade Ranch

Directions:

  1. To make the Ranch dipping sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream, buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, mayonnaise, chives, and dill. Then season with salt and black pepper, to taste. Place in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  3. Coat a wire rack with nonstick spray and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, then set aside.
  4. Pat the wings dry using a kitchen towel or paper towels.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the wings, 1 ½ teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon pepper, and baking powder.
  6. Transfer the wings to the prepared baking sheet and bake for about 40-45 minutes. (After 20 minutes, turn the wings)
  7. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine tomato sauce, hot sauce, honey, butter, Worcestershire, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  8. Bring to a boil then reduce the heat and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until slightly thickened, (stir constantly)
  9. In a large bowl, combine the cooked wings and half of the sauce mixture.
  10. Place the wings onto the prepared baking sheet and bake again, turning once, until glossy and lightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  11. Remove from the oven and stir in the remaining sauce mixture.
  12. Serve immediately with Ranch dipping sauce.
